Since we are daily being inundated with political messages and slogans, I thought today we could take a break and look at how other countries are run. So lets look at one of the oldest and continuous monarchies that exist in the world today, the one in the British Isles. The current monarch is Queen Elizabeth II, who has been on the throne since 1953. Today’s Family First site is the Official Website of the British Monarchy.
Here you can trace the history of the Monarchy from it’s beginning, the procedures under which it operates today, and has operated for over the past 1100 years. There are biographies of the current family, information on the palaces of the royal family, a special section on the restoration of Windsor Castle after it’s near disastrous fire several years ago, and the Royal Collection, one of the finest collections of paintings, books, furniture, glassware, and, yes, even the crown jewels. There is also a section with links to other sites that have ties to the monarchy.
